Speedy midfielder Taylor Hunt is thriving in his new football environment at Tigerland.

Hunt joined Richmond late last year as a delisted free agent following a 63-game career in five years with Geelong.

Speaking from Richmond’s community camp in East Gippsland, Hunt expressed considerable enthusiasm with his transition from Cat to Tiger.

“I’m really loving my time here at Richmond.  I’ve settled in really well . . . been injury free and been able to train and get to know the boys,” Hunt said.

“It’s exciting times here at Richmond.  They’ve got a lot of new faces at the Club.  The first-year boys are putting their foot forward.  They’ve got lots of talent, and a few of the second and third-year boys are coming along really nicely as well.”

The 24-year-old earned an impressive reputation as a run-with midfielder during his time at Geelong, but seems likely, initially, to have more license in a midfield role with the Tigers.

“Speaking to ‘Dimma’ (Damien Hardwick), I might just have a bit of freedom early on . . . It’s exciting,” Hunt said.

“I guess I really enjoyed that run-with role (at Geelong).  It was just hard work and really stressful at times playing on the best player every week.  I probably struggled at times with that role and probably lost my offensive flair as well.  So just trying to find that back this pre-season and see where we go with it.”
