Gary March formally ended his tenure as Richmond president at last night's Jack Dyer Medal.
It brings to an end 11 years of service as a Richmond board member, the final eight of which he served as Club president.
“It’s been my great honour to serve the Richmond Football Club,” March said.
“It’s been a very humbling experience, that I’ve been afforded that honor, and it’s something I’ve never taken for granted.
“I don’t see it as leaving the Club, but rather finishing another stanza in my association with the Club.
“The Richmond Football Club is part of my DNA. Once a Tiger, you remain a Tiger for life.”
Maurice O'Shannassy, who will serve as interim President, paid tribute to the outgoing President.
"Gary has provided the Richmond Football Club with outstanding service and has overseen a period of significant change which has seen the resurgence of our great football club on and off the field," O’Shannassy said.
"The Richmond Football Club is indebted to him and it goes without saying he is always welcome back.
"We look forward to building on Gary's legacy into the future.”
The Richmond board will now focus on filling the casual vacancy created by March’s departure and electing its next president.
