A best-afield performance by Richmond recruit Chris Knights helped Coburg to a first-up win in the VFL yesterday.
Knights collected 41 disposals, had eight clearances, eight inside 50s and kicked a goal in the Tigers’ 32-point win over Sandringham.

The Coburg team consisted mostly of Richmond-listed players, many of whom were influential in the result.
Up forward, Aaron Edwards (four goals and 17 disposals), Liam McBean (four goals) and Todd Elton (three goals) were a constant threat, and recently-elevated rookie Orren Stephenson was brilliant in the ruck, with 35 hitouts.
Coburg’s midfield brigade also shone, including Brad Helbig (26 touches), Matt White (26) and Robin Nahas (22 disposals and six tackles).
First-year recruit Nick Vlastuin had a solid VFL debut, picking up 16 disposals and laying six tackles.
Coburg takes on Williamstown in Round 2, this Saturday, April 13, at 1.10pm.
