The striking charge laid against Richmond's Ty Vickery on West Coast ruckman Dean Cox has been referred straight to the AFL Tribunal.
Vickery was reported for striking Cox during the Tigers' 17-point win over the Eagles on Friday night at Patersons Stadium.
The incident was graded by the Match Review Panel on Monday morning, with the panel deciding it was intentional (three activation points), severe impact (four points) and high contact (two points).
The total of nine activation points meant the incident had to be referred straight to the tribunal, which is expected to hear the case on Tuesday evening.
Due to his case being referred to the tribunal, Vickery cannot accept a 25 per cent discount for lodging an early guilty plea.
He has an existing bad record of 43.75 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months.
The MRP also looked at the elbow to the chest that Cox landed on Vickery prior to the strike.
The panel's report said, "Cox and Vickery were preparing to take position at a boundary throw-in when Cox throws his arm back and makes contact to Vickery.
“It was the view of the panel the force used was below that required to constitute a reportable offence."
The match-day report laid against Richmond’s Brandon Ellis for engaging in rough conduct against West Coast’s Patrick McGinnity was thrown out.
