Richmond is delighted to announce that former player Adam Marcon will return to the Club as AFLW midfield development coach for the upcoming season.
Marcon played two AFL matches for Richmond in 2016 in his sole AFL season, where he also won the Guinane Medal as the Tigers’ VFL Best and Fairest.
The decorated former Williamstown (VFL) skipper was a Player-Coach at Aberfeldie in the Essendon District Football League premier division in 2022. He remains coach of the club in 2023.
Richmond AFLW Senior Coach Ryan Ferguson said Marcon was an exciting addition to the coaching line-up.
"Having played with Adam at Williamstown, both his dedication and understanding of the game are evident," Ferguson said.
"As a PE teacher at Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School, he has a skill set that will translate well to coaching.
"He can't wait to get started in women’s football and we're stoked to have him on board.
Marcon said he was "honoured to be back" at Tigerland and was looking forward to the opportunity.
"It feels like a little bit of déjà vu to be returning, but really exciting seeing some familiar faces and fresh faces," he said.
"I think I've got a lot to learn and I'm really excited about the women's side of the game."
A lifelong best friend of Richmond AFL development coach and former player Kane Lambert, Marcon also played alongside fellow newly-appointed AFLW assistant coach Shaun Hampson.
