Mykelti Lefau provided some positivity for Richmond supporters amid the disappointment of yesterday’s 39-point loss to West Coast at Optus Stadium.

The strongly-built, 25-year-old, who was an AFL pre-season supplementary selection period addition for the Tigers this year, produced an impressive performance in the team’s forward line.

He finished what was just his fourth appearance at the game’s highest level with 12 disposals, eight marks, including a team-high six grabs inside Richmond’s forward-50 area, six score involvements, five tackles, 325 metres gained and three goals.

Richmond coach Adem Yze enthused about Lefau during his post-match press conference.

“He’s in his third or fourth game and he looked like an AFL forward today,” Yze said.

“He’s still learning the game and, to be fair, they’ve (West Coast) got two quality key defenders that he was on (Tom Barrass and Jeremy McGovern), and he held his own.

“That’s exciting for our footy club . . .

“Those small wins we’re having along the way, while we’re going through this adversity, is really important for us.

“He did really well, ‘Mykelts’.”
