Richmond star Brett Deledio has pinpointed four young teammates that he believes have the necessary attributes to become top-class league players and help drive the Tigers to an era of sustained success.
Deledio, appearing in his regular guest spot on radio station RSN, named Nick Vlastuin, Daniel Rioli, Corey Ellis and Connor Menadue as exciting, emerging talent at Tigerland.
Here’s what Deledio had to say about each of them . . .
Nick Vlastuin
“I think with Nick, we need to challenge him to maybe step up and play some time in the midfield. I think he’s such a good user of the footy and a good decision-maker and he’s got that hard edge. He’s pretty tough.”
Daniel Rioli
“I think we saw some special things from Dan late in the year . . . He’s only going to get better and better with the confidence he’s getting in his game. His fitness ability and his ability to work from contest to contest, is as good as anyone at the Club.”
Corey Ellis
“Corey just needs to get a good run at it. He’s going okay. Silky skills, but just need to get a bit more aggression into him, I think.”
Connor Menadue
“Connor is a kid that I like. He’s got a lot of pizzazz about him. He doesn’t mind pumping himself up a little bit, but he also back himself in with the footy and doesn’t mind running and carrying. And that’s something that we probably need in our team.”
